Welcome to Walford Anglican School for Girls, where since 1893 we have been educating and empowering young women. We live in an exciting and complex time, where young people will require a range of attributes to navigate a future we can only imagine. Our campus has been carefully designed to promote the sense of belonging which began in the family home of Walford’s first Headmistress. Friendships are easily facilitated across year levels and each girl is known by name and valued for her unique talents and strengths.

International students are encouraged to discover their strengths and realise their potential through a broad curriculum and a wide range of co-curricular and sporting opportunities. Walford offers the South Australian Certificate of Education. The SACE is an internationally recognised qualification providing a future pathway for entry into Australian and International universities. Highly qualified and experienced teachers who are passionate about their subjects work closely with the girls in an atmosphere of collaboration and respect.

The deliberate size of our school allows for each girl to be known as an individual and to feel a strong connection to the community. Students are cared for and supported and have access to student and careers counsellors and medical staff as part of our multi-faceted pastoral care and wellbeing program.

Students at Walford are immersed in a community that empowers them to achieve their best in pathways that are right for them. Our alumnae network is active within the life of the school, helping students to see what you can be through mentoring and engagement initiatives.

The Boarding House is situated on the school campus, so the girls have the benefit of using school facilities after hours and on the weekends. e tennis courts, grounds and the pool are really enjoyed in the warmer months. Senior students have their own rooms and every room has its own ensuite bathroom. The Boarding House has a positive and productive atmosphere. Younger students have supervised homework times whilst the older students work more independently. Boarding staff communicate regularly with teachers to ensure that any academic concerns are quickly addressed and they keep in close contact with parents.

Ariel, from Hong Kong, has been boarding at Walford since Year 9 and plans to become a veterinarian after finishing Year 12. “Australia finds so many opportunities and resources for me to reach my goals. The Boarding House has been welcoming and caring. The boarders are like my sisters; they are friendly and we live together as a big family."

Our curriculum is designed to provide girls and young women with the tools needed to think deeply, challenge their perspectives, and to engage purposefully in learning that is contemporary and relevant to the world in which they live. We are proud of our students’ consistently strong academic results which reflects the positive learning culture that is fostered by staff and students working collaboratively at Walford.

Our Year 12 classes consistently exceed national benchmarks with exceptional ATAR results. Approximately 50% of our girls achieve results placing them in the top 10% in South Australia and we are always very proud of the high number of merit certificates awarded to Walford students.
